Village of Fayette · Code enforcement · Today
A code office runs three kinds of work.
Most offices run all three. Here they are one system, working off the same properties and the same owner records.
Inspections
The state makes the village inspect certain buildings, over and over.
Violations
A resident calls, or an officer drives past it, and the office has to get it fixed by a date, and prove it.
- The comply-by date is counted when the notice issues, frozen onto the letter, and written onto the violation.
- An issued letter is stored as its own PDF. A mistake is voided and reissued, never edited.
- Order the abatement and the crew gets a work order. The cost becomes a claim against the property.
The date printed on the letter is the same date that puts the property back on your list.
Inspections
Every year the village walks its assembly halls, apartment buildings and business properties, and counts it all for the state.
- Add a building, pick what it is, and it enrolls on the cycle the state requires.
- The report says the premises were satisfactory only when the inspection actually was.
- Pick the year and the counts for your annual state report are on the screen. You copy them onto the form.
Buildings due and reinspections owed arrive as work, not in a drawer.

Permits
Somebody files to build, demolish or put up a sign, and the office reviews it, inspects the work, and signs off.
- It refuses to approve while a required document is missing, and it names each one.
- At approval the officer confirms which inspections this job needs, pre-ticked from the permit type.
- No certificate issues while an inspection is pending, scheduled or failed. It prints each reason.
The refusals live in the software: no approval over missing paperwork, no certificate over an open inspection.

Certificate cannot issue. Framing has no recorded result.
Three kinds of work. One file per property.
Every case, every inspection and every permit at an address goes into that property's file, on the same parcel, against the same owner record.
So when a fire inspection fails and the owner ignores the report, one action carries the open findings into an enforcement case, with the owner from the tax roll, the operator from the register, and each finding already written as a citation.
Nobody retypes the violation.
